  • Good Employer Charter (GEC) 2026 is open for enrolment now
    GEC 2026 is open for enrolment now, free of charge. Good employers from different industries are welcome to join! All private organisations, public bodies (excluding government bureaux and departments), employers’ associations / trade unions / professional bodies, and non-governmental organisations / social enterprises / educational institutions in Hong Kong are eligible to participate. Interested good employers please click here for more details, or download enrolment form (6.1MB) . Enrolment deadline falls on 31 May 2026.
  • Revise the “Continuous Contract” Requirement under the Employment Ordinance (EO)

    The new “continuous contract” requirement under the EO is applicable from 18 January 2026. Please click here for details.

  • Increase of Statutory Holidays

    Starting from 2026, the first weekday after Christmas Day has been a newly added statutory holiday under the Employment Ordinance. Other relevant provisions in relation to the statutory holidays under the Employment Ordinance remain unchanged, including the arrangement of holiday, eligibility for holiday pay and pay rate, and restriction on pay in lieu of holiday.   • Results announcement of Good Employee Recognition Campaign

    To complement the Good Employer Charter (the Charter) 2024, the Labour Department launches the value-added activity of the “Good Employee Recognition Campaign” (the Campaign) which encourages the signatories of the Charter 2024 to nominate their employees to join the Campaign for expressing gratitude and recognition to them for their contributions.

    Through the Charter 2024 and the Campaign, the Labour Department gives impetus to both the employers and employees, and also inspires other employers and employees to become good partners in the workplace.

    Results of the Campaign were announced on 15 April 2025. With tremendous support from the signatories of the Charter, over 2 600 good employees were recognised for their contributions! Please click here (3.3MB) for the List of Commendation.
